Welcome to The Farmer Files! My name is Shell. I am an American ex-pat mama soaking up life in Tokyo. My every day life is an event.
I am proudly powered by Diet Coke, high calorie desserts, and Jesus. I need all of those to keep up with Dr. Romance and my Boy Tribe.
Dr. Romance and I met in an elevator. YES, an elevator. We had a spellbinding exchange of words while he held the elevator for ten minutes. Then we made a bet at 11p.m. To this day, neither of us have lost.
I was an undergrad at UCLA and he was a Ph.D. student. Two years later we married under fireworks on a hot Fourth of July in San Diego.
(Fireworks tend to match my personality.)
I told him I was never leaving California.
Famous last words….
We moved to Virginia, then to Hawaii, and then to California. I birthed a baby in each of these states. Then we moved to Massachusetts for a frigid year. It froze any more baby fever out of me!
Finally, we arrived in Japan in 2011. I LOVE it here.
We have moved enough to drive me to drink Diet Coke morning, noon, and night. I am trying to cut back to just breakfast.
Every single move has been by our choice. I would choose it all again and again.
My boys are ages 7, 4, and 2. They have logged thousands of miles in trains, helicopters, planes, and cars. Most days they LOVE our adventures and travel well. MOST days.
Awhile back I earned a B.A. from UCLA and an M.Ed. from UVA.
